The Legend of Luke
Redwall
The adventure begins at the peaceful Redwall Abbey, where gentle mice live quiet lives of friendship, faith, and feasting. That peace is shattered when the cruel rat Cluny the Scourge marches toward the Abbey with his savage horde. Young novice Matthias, unsure of his own strength, discovers an ancient prophecy foretelling the return of the legendary warrior Martin. As danger closes in, Matthias must overcome fear, uncover hidden secrets, and grow into a hero worthy of Redwall’s proud history. This first book sets the tone for the entire series with epic battles, deep friendships, and unforgettable courage.
Mossflower
Set years before Redwall, this tale explores the origins of the Abbey itself. The land of Mossflower is under the iron paw of the wildcat tyrant Tsarmina, whose cruelty crushes all who oppose her. Into this dark time steps Martin the Warrior, a brave young mouse with a destiny yet to be fulfilled. Alongside loyal companions like Gonff the mouse and the badger Boar the Fighter, Martin leads a daring rebellion to free Mossflower. This story is rich with adventure, sacrifice, and the birth of legends.
Mattimeo
Matthias’s son Mattimeo has grown up in the safety of Redwall, but his peaceful life ends when he is kidnapped by the slaver rat Slagar. Forced into hardship far from home, Mattimeo must learn bravery the hard way. Meanwhile, Matthias sets out on a dangerous quest to rescue his son. This emotional story explores identity, growth, and the painful journey from childhood to heroism, proving that courage often runs through generations.
Mariel of Redwall
Mariel, the fiercely independent daughter of the sea otter Gullwhacker, is washed ashore near Redwall after being cast adrift by the ruthless pirate rat Gabool the Wild. Injured but unbroken, Mariel trains to reclaim her father’s stolen sword and avenge his death. Her journey takes her from the calm of Redwall to the high seas, blending swashbuckling adventure with themes of resilience, loyalty, and self-discovery.
Salamandastron
This powerful tale focuses on the legendary mountain fortress of Salamandastron, home of the Badger Lords. When the mountain falls into enemy hands, the noble badger Urthstripe the Strong must reclaim it from the vile weasel Ferahgo. At the same time, young mouse Mung and his companions flee danger and find refuge with the Long Patrol hares. The story is filled with epic battles, honour-bound warriors, and the weight of destiny that comes with leadership.
Martin the Warrior
This origin story delves deeply into the life of Redwall’s greatest hero. As a young mouse enslaved by the evil wildcat Badrang, Martin endures cruelty while never losing hope. His escape sparks a rebellion that will change Mossflower forever. This emotionally charged novel explores suffering, perseverance, and the true meaning of freedom, showing how Martin earned his place as a legend whose spirit guides Redwall for generations.
The Bellmaker
When one of Redwall’s ancient bells is stolen, young mouse Mariel (now grown) and her companions set out on a perilous quest to retrieve it. Their journey takes them across seas, forests, and hostile lands ruled by treacherous foxes and wildcats. Meanwhile, danger threatens Redwall itself. This story weaves parallel adventures together, celebrating teamwork, courage, and the unbreakable bonds between friends.
Outcast of Redwall
Veil Sixclaw, a ferret raised within the walls of Redwall, struggles with his dark heritage and inner rage. Despite the kindness shown to him, Veil’s violent instincts push him away from the Abbey toward a tragic destiny. This darker, more complex story examines nature versus nurture, belonging, and the painful consequences of unchecked anger, making it one of the most thought-provoking entries in the series.
The Pearls of Lutra
The playful otter tribe is thrown into chaos when their sacred pearls are stolen by the vicious pirate fox Urgan Nagru. Tansy, a young ottermaid, embarks on a dangerous journey to recover them, joined by unexpected allies. Meanwhile, Redwall faces threats of its own. Filled with riddles, sea adventures, and thrilling rescues, this story sparkles with humour, heart, and daring heroism.
The Long Patrol
This novel shines a spotlight on the fearless hares of the Long Patrol, sworn defenders of Salamandastron. When the mountain is threatened by the cunning villain Damug Warfang, it falls to young hare Tammo and his comrades to stand firm. With stirring speeches, battlefield bravery, and moments of warmth and humour, this book celebrates loyalty, honour, and standing strong against impossible odds.
Marlfox
A family of cruel, intelligent foxes known as the Marlfoxes unleash terror across Mossflower with carefully planned schemes and traps. As Redwall faces destruction, young heroes must step forward to stop an enemy unlike any before. This fast-paced and suspenseful story highlights strategy, sacrifice, and the strength found in unity, making it one of the most thrilling tales in the series.
The Legend of Luke
This story uncovers the truth about Martin the Warrior’s father, Luke the Warrior. Through songs, legends, and long-lost memories, Redwall’s inhabitants learn of Luke’s bravery, loss, and enduring hope. The tale moves between past and present, revealing how Luke’s courage shaped Martin’s destiny and the spirit of Redwall itself. It is a moving tribute to legacy, family, and the power of stories passed through generations.
Together, these twelve books form the complete Redwall saga, a timeless fantasy series beloved by millions. With rich world-building, unforgettable characters, thrilling adventures, and heart-warming moments, this collection is perfect for readers aged 9+, collectors, and anyone who loves epic tales of bravery and friendship.
